A Volunteer Firefighter is now titled Paid Call Firefighter (PCF). Merced County has over 300 PCFs at any time , but we are always seeking new recruits. To volunteer, you must:
Be 18 years old
Have a valid California Driver’s License
Reside or work in the initial response area of station applying
The application to become a PCF is available online and at your local County Fire Station. Please complete the application and return it to the station along with a current DMV printout.
If accepted, arrangements will be made for you to undergo a County-paid physical and Live Scan procedure. After passing the physical exam and live scan, you will be contacted to attend PCF Orientation and employee processing.
After completing minimum training requirements, you will be issued turnouts, and can respond to your Company’s calls!
