Medi-Cal is California’s Medicaid health care program. Using state and federal funds, Medi-Cal provides a variety of medical services to children and adults that are determined eligible and are under income and resource limits.

Automatic eligibility is established for recipients of cash assistance from the following programs:
CalWORKs (California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids)
Foster Care or Adoption Assistance Program
Eligibility may also be established for individuals that are 65 or older, blind, disabled, diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer, in a skilled nursing or intermediate care facility, or a refugee during a limited period of eligibility. Parents or a caretaker relative of a child under 21 may also be eligible if the child’s parent is absent, deceased, or incapacitated or the primary wage earning parent is unemployed or underemployed.
