Each county must develop and submit a cultural competence plan consistent with Cultural Competence Plan Requirements (CCPR) standards and criteria (per California Code of Regulations, Title 9, Section 1810.410). The eight main criteria are:
- Commitment to Cultural Competence
- Updated Assessment of Service Needs
- Strategies and Efforts for Reducing Racial, Ethnic, Cultural, and Linguistic Mental Health Disparities
- Client/Family Member/Community Committee: Integration of the Committee Within The County Mental Health System
- Culturally Competent Training Activities
- County’s Commitment To Growing a Multicultural Workforce: Hiring and Retaining Culturally and Linguistically Competent Staff
- Language Capacity
- Adaptation of Services
Merced County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services has a Cultural Humility, Health Equity and Social Justice Committee which meets the fourth Thursday of every month from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the BHRS Adult Campus located at: 301 East 13th Street, Merced, California. Attendees must check in at reception.
