Access & Engagement

BHRS provides an array of services aimed to promote access to and engagement with services.

The Access team provides support, screening, information, and referrals to appropriate community resources for all Merced County residents seeking behavioral health assistance. Access also provides Medi-Cal beneficiaries with information about information about the beneficiary problem resolution and fair hearing processes, and conducts screenings to determine eligibility for services. Appointments are provided to callers based on urgent/non-urgent protocol and scheduled with Central Intake or referred to the appropriate level of care. Central Intake serves as the point of entry for adult, youth, and children who are seeing behavioral health services.

BHRS Adult System of Care (ASOC) also has a variety of field teams that offer pre-engagement, engagement, and intensive short-term services to clients identified as needing additional support. Our field teams work with clients to ensure that they are appropriately linked with ongoing services within BHRS and/or other community agency providers and help minimize barriers to treatment. Services provided by BHRS field teams include intensive case management and rehabilitation, individual therapy, medication support, collateral services, and linkage and brokerage services.
